《赤脚斜走大刀》是中国民间文化杰出传承人，著名民间表演艺术家吉靖羽先生1986年独创的铿锵绝技。其表演充满着原始的野性和神奇，张扬着生命的伟力，是目前民族民间绝技表演类节目的最高表现层次的代表作。他所走过的大刀长从6 米、12米，到18米，最重达2.23吨，刀口朝上，刀刃锋利能吹毛断发，呈35度斜坡状，距地面达12 米。刀身刻有花、鸟、鱼等图案。吉靖羽先生能赤脚在刀锋上表演正走、倒走、滑走、“金鸡独立”、“大鹏展翅”以及头顶倒立等各种惊险动作，功夫炉火纯青，世界空前，已达登峰造极之境，所到之处，掌声不绝，蜚声海内外。吉靖羽先生因此被誉为“刀锋上的奇人”、“世界大刀王”。并被录入《世界名人》。
吉靖羽先生表演的《赤脚斜走大刀》，其意义在于把战争的武器——大刀踩在脚下，向人们倡导一个和平友好的社会环境。同时，通过吉先生的表演，向人们展示民族团结，不畏艰险，自强不息，勇敢向上的精神。
